Significance

A man stated, "In the first 40 years of your life you live for success and the second 40 years of your life you live for significance."

Are you living your life right now for success or for significance?

I'll be honest to say that I don't know if I have ever significantly touched anyones life. I think God has given me some wonderful, priceless opportunities in my life to have significant moments, but I think other people have ended up touching my life instead of me touching theres. I don't want to be living my life for success because I don't care about being successful in the work field? Is anyone else feeling this way?

Let it Snow!

It has been a while since I've posted anything. I've been quite busy the past month and I now have a lot of stories to post.

My most recent story was being able to decorate my place last week for the Christmas season. My parents wanted to get a smaller fake tree this year and offered me the large old fake tree (I'm unable to get the real deal considering I'm allergic to pine trees). I was more than happy to take the tree.

I started to put in up and realized how large and how much space it took up. I didn't want it to take up the entire living room space, so I put it up against the wall and only put together half of the tree!! You can't tell from the front view, but you can tell from the side view. Its quite humerous...hey, I made it work! All we need now is snow!

Good Weekend!

My weekend started off really well! On Friday morning I walked into work and the staff said, "We were trying to call you to let you know that you didn't need to work today!" As you could imagine, I was a little dumb founded...WHAT?!?! The day before had been a slow day because of MEA weekend and it was going to be slow again on Friday and they nominated me to have the morning off. The boss never gets the day off before someone else. Is there a conspiracy going on that I don't know about? It was so nice of my staff to consider me first, I was truly blessed!

Saturday night was my brother's engagement party! I gotta be honest, in all the weddings I've been a part of or experienced, I have never gone to an engagement party. I didn't realize those happened. Anyway, we went to the Crab House in Stillwater. Ashley's parents served appetizers and had an open bar tab running for a couple of hours. We mingled with the wedding party and got to know the family a little bit.

The bad was setting up to play for the night and I went up and asked them what their song list was and what type of music they play. They said they were pretty much a cover band and they could play any song I wanted to hear. So, I asked if they would play any song I wanted to sing. One of the guys said sure you can sing, but the lead singer needing a little convincing that I could carry a tune. I told him I didn't have to sing lead, I could harmonize with him. With the types of songs they were talking about, I asked him if he knew the "Bed of Roses" song by Jon BonJovi. He started singing the chorus and I chimed in on harmony. He stopped and said "S**t she's good...you're in!" They called me up about the fourth or fifth song and I sang harmony on the song "Jealousy." It was fun to sing with guys I didn't know and to head bang! Everyone from the party was a little shocked that I was up there, but it was good times! (I mentioned to my parents that the Joneson Gene was bound to come out at some point in time during the party!)

Sunday morning I helped out with a Rock TV scene. It amazes me that they still call me to ask for my help when I'm not the greatest actress...I think I'm terrible. Camera's are not my friends ("So how many camera's are actually on you?!?!") Don't give me any lines, just let me sit there and look pretty!

Overall, it was a great weekend!

Piece of **** Car: Part 2!

The following week on Friday I was sitting at the stop light waiting to turn left and head into the Library. Before I knew it a cop car was behind me with his lights on. I pulled over and I was trying to think of what just happened and if I had done something wrong (my heart was beating slightly faster than normal).

The cop asked to see my license and I asked him "Is something wrong, Sir?"
Cops response: "ma'am, did you know that your back break lights don't work?"
(I was relieved, but at the same time wanted to come back with a smart aleck remark! As if I would know that my back break lights were out!) He let me go with no ticket! Thank you, come again!

I called Goodyear to see when I could get in and I made an appointment the next afternoon. I brought the car in and they had to do a diagnostic test and some other things with the oil changes and flushing the fluid...blah, blah, blah. I went to Applebee's across the street where I use to work in Eden Prairie. I figured since I'd be dropping a couple hundred dollars across the street, I would need a drink! (or two) Arlene came and joined me at the bar and we had good laughs with the staff.

The guy called and said that my "Multi-function unit system" was the cause of the problem. I responded saying, "I knew that!" (for those of you who are like me and have no idea what that is, its the arm connected to your steering wheel and it controls the lights, turning signal, etc.) The cost of the unit was the same exact amount for the labor! They made 100% on labor as it was for the part. (What a rip off!)

I went and picked up the car when it was finished and while I was driving home, my blinker started blinking fast again, indicating that there was something wrong. Too bad they were closed for the day! I knew I was going to have to bring it in AGAIN and I was not looking forward to spending more money on something that just got fixed! I figured since I don't have a car payment that paying maintenance was the next step. I don't want to purchase a new vehicle anytime soon, so I'm thankful for my car, its just the unexpected situations that I'll probably be dreading!

Piece of **** Car!

When I returned from Illinois a few weeks ago, I had a flat tire to deal with. In mid July I had put on two new tires in the rear and I knew I needed two new tires in the front, but I was waiting until I had more money or when it was obvious that I needed new tires. Anyway, long story short I got all four new tires within the past few months.

The next day after picking up my car, I went to Slumberland in Burnsville with my mom to show her the furniture I had picked out for my place. When we were done shopping we got to the car and the car wouldn't start. It turned over, but nothing happened. We walked over to CarX to see if they could help us at all and the guy was a) rude and b) didn't offer any assistance what so ever! (he lost my business!) I called dad and he said he would help and deal with it after work. My mom and I walked over to Davannis where my sister Amy joined us and we had lunch.(that was the obvious thing to do!)

My dad and I went to the car and we jumped it. Our goal was to get it to the Apple Valley Goodyear. Well, I started to drive and it didn't go far at all! (we were still in the parking lot of Slumberland!) My dad and I decided to jump it again and he decided that he would be the one to drive the car because he thought he could do it so much better. Well, he didn't get very far either! (again still in the parking lot of Slumberland) So, my dad said I think I'm just going to push it. (I'm thinking yeah right dad!) I told him I would call for backup.

I called the house around the corner where all those guys live and I figured one of them would be able to help. Dordal answered and he said he would come and he would try to get Chris and Jon to come. We decided to push it to the Goodyear that was right down the block. So, dad and I went to go and talk to the Goodyear men. Dordal was waiting for us back at the car without any extra help! (poor guy) My Dad and Dordal began pushing the car and come running behind them was Dordal Jr. (otherwise known as Chris). The Dordals to the rescue began pushing and running at the same time and my dad couldn't keep up! It was a great help that the Dordals were there. I gave a hug to Chris and told him to pass it onto Jonathan because he was in a hurry to get somewhere. My dad offered to hug Chris also, but I think he scared him away!!!:)

Well, everyone thought it was something major with my car and it turns out that it was only the battery. Thank you come again!

Part Two of the Piece of **** Car will be coming soon!

Color Trivia!

I've just been fascinated recently about our fall colors. I don't know if this year is a little different than the past years, but the colors just seem a lot more vibrant! Either that or I'm just a bit more observant this year than I ever was in the past.

Anyway, with all that said, our trivia today at work was:

How many of every 21 color-blinded people are women?

I was thinking driving home today how sad it would be to not be able to see all the beautiful colors!:(
If you know the trivia...give yourself 10 cents off!:)
